- Assistant Vice President and Dean for Intercultural Engagement

Oberlin College & Conservatory, a top-ranked liberal arts college in Oberlin, Ohio, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of assistant vice president and dean for intercultural engagement. This is an on-site leadership role.

Reporting to Karen Goff, vice president and dean of students (VPSA), the assistant vice president and dean for intercultural engagement (AVP/Dean) will assist the VPSA in implementing presidential initiatives that support diversity, equity, and inclusion education across campus, including intercultural and interfaith student programming and coordinated faculty, staff, student, and community outreach efforts. The AVP/Dean oversees the Center for Intercultural Engagement (CIE) team and develops measurable objectives to achieve program goals. The CIE brings together the Office for Disability and Access, International Student and Scholar Services, the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, Gender, Sexuality, and Attraction Initiatives, and the Multicultural Resource Commons. The AVP/Dean manages an operating budget of $350,000 and supervises four direct reports and approximately 20 indirect reports. This position is based on campus and requires an in-person presence. The anticipated start date is late spring 2026.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a master's degree and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in student affairs or a related field, with demonstrated ability to operate effectively in complex institutional environments. This individual will combine strong administrative and operational expertise, including supervision, budget management, program development, and data-informed decision-making, with the political acumen necessary to navigate a shared governance environment. They will have a proven track record of building relationships across students, faculty, and staff; facilitating dialogue on complex and sensitive issues; and advancing initiatives that foster belonging and student success, particularly for historically marginalized communities.
