ORGANIZATION: Founded in 2007, Dallas Afterschool is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to high-quality afterschool and out-of-school-time opportunities for youth across Dallas. The organization serves as a connector, advocate and partner; working with schools, nonprofits, funders, civic leaders and the broader community to strengthen outcomes for children, families and the Dallas community.
POSITION: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for ensuring the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. Serving as Dallas Afterschool’s chief ambassador, the CEO will cultivate deep community relationships, drive philanthropic investment, and elevate the organization’s visibility, credibility, and influence throughout the region. The CEO’s primary strengths will include fundraising, strategic partnerships, advocacy, and demonstrated community leadership. In this role, the CEO will oversee a $1.7 million operating budget and provide leadership to approximately 13 employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
External Leadership and Community Engagement:
- Serve as the public face and chief spokesperson of Dallas Afterschool with donors, foundations, corporate partners, elected officials, school districts and community organizations by representing Dallas Afterschool at community events, public forums, convening and advocacy efforts.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with key stakeholders across philanthropy, business, government and the non-profit sector.
Fundraising and Resource Development:
- Provide strategic leadership for a diversified fund development program, ensuring effective cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship across major gifts, institutional giving, corporate sponsorships, and public funding.
- Ensure diversified, sustainable revenue streams aligned with long-term organizational goals.
Strategic Leadership:
- Work with the Board to set and advance a clear strategic vision focused on growth, sustainability and community impact.
- Monitor progress towards goals using data and outcomes to inform decisions and storytelling as well as to course correct and adjust actions, as needed.
- Partner closely with the Board, providing transparent communications, sound judgement and ownership of outcomes.
Organizational Leadership:
- Motivate, support and lead a senior team responsible for programmatic execution, operations and administration.
- Create an environment that attracts, engages and retains a diverse staff of top talent.
- Coach and develop the staff to drive personal as well as organizational growth.
- Ensure organizational compliance, fiscal responsibility and strong governance practices.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of demonstrated executive leadership experience. Experience with afterschool and the broader out-of-school time ecosystem is preferred.
A Bachelor’s Degree is required; Master’s Degree preferred.
Salary range: $135 - $155 plus bonus potential.
