Position Summary:
The Vice President of Operations is a senior executive leader and key member of Dignity Health Sports Park's (DHSP) Senior Leadership Team. This role is responsible for the overall operational excellence, safety, and venue operations for DHSP. The VP of Operations provides direct oversight of Operations/Conversion, Broadcasting, Technology, Housekeeping, and Turf & Grounds departments, as well as all capital projects and construction initiatives. The position ensures the stadium is maintained at the highest standards, delivers seamless event execution, and drives a culture of excellence, safety, efficiency, and service that reflects the brand of both the stadium and the LA Galaxy.
Essential Functions:
Leadership & Strategy
• Serve as a senior leader, aligning stadium operations with the organization's overall strategic vision and business objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop department heads across Operations, Conversion, Broadcasting, Technology, Housekeeping, and Turf & Grounds.
• Partner with executive leadership on long-term planning, capital improvements, and operational innovation.
Financial Management
• Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets for all operational areas.
• Monitor expenditures, contracts, and vendor performance to maximize efficiency and financial stewardship.
• Identify cost savings and revenue-enhancing opportunities through operational improvements and innovation.
Event & Facility Operations
• Oversee the planning, conversion, and execution of all events, including professional sports, concerts, and special events, ensuring seamless delivery and premium guest experiences.
• Ensure operational readiness of the stadium at all times, including housekeeping, technology systems, turf and playing surfaces, and overall facility presentation.
• Direct coordination across internal teams and external partners to guarantee efficient event execution.
Technology & Innovation
• Provide leadership for all technology and innovation functions, including broadcast operations, venue technology infrastructure, and digital fan experience platforms.
• Drive the integration of innovative practices in sustainability initiatives and stadium operations.
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies that enhance the fan experience, operational efficiency, and competitive positioning of the stadium.
Capital Projects & Construction
• Lead all capital planning, renovation, and construction initiatives to ensure the stadium remains a world-class venue.
• Partner with architects, engineers, and contractors to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to quality standards.
• Integrate sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives into all capital and construction projects.
Safety & Compliance
• Maintain and enforce policies and procedures to ensure the safety and security of fans, employees, athletes, and performers.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including fire, health, ADA, and OSHA requirements.
• Serve as a key leader in risk management, emergency preparedness, and crisis response.
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS Degree (4-year) (Advanced Degree Preferred) In Facilities Management, Sports Management, Operations, or a related area
- 10+ years: Progressive leadership experience in stadium/arena operations, large-scale venue management, or major events.
- Strong track record of executive-level leadership and team development in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.
- Deep understanding of facility management, event logistics, safety/security, and guest experience best practices.
- Proven financial and budget management skills with multimillion-dollar operations.
- Exceptional communication, leadership presence, and ability to influence at all levels.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise complex operational activities with full-time managers and part-time staff; proven track record of leading high-performing teams and aligning daily operations with long-term organizational goals.
- Expertise in leading large, multi-departmental teams (e.g., security, guest services, engineering), developing leaders, and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, subordinates, partners, and the public; skilled at influencing and collaborating across diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with expertise in managing multiple large-scale projects, events, and competing priorities; ability to perform under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt quickly in high-stakes situations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), CAD, BlueBeam, and adept at leveraging technology, data, and systems to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional guest and fan experiences; able to work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) to meet the demands of venue operations; dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace culture.
Payscale: $163,852.00 - $190,000.00
Bonus: (If applicable) This position is eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
