Description
This is a newly created role focused on developing and maintaining strategic client relationships while managing execution needs across all equity-related products. You will play a pivotal role in building out our Canadian Cash equity business.Job Responsibilities
- Drive high-touch coverage across a diverse institutional base, including asset managers, insurance companies, pension funds, banks, sovereign wealth funds, corporations, and hedge funds.
- Manage best-in-class execution across equity-related products and channels, collaborating closely with trading, research, and syndicate to deliver integrated solutions.
- Generate actionable trade ideas and thematic market insights; deliver timely market color that deepens client relationships and wallet share.
- Lead the expansion of the Canadian franchise in Toronto by identifying growth opportunities, informing hiring needs across key functions, and partnering cross-functionally (trading, operations, technology, legal, compliance) to enable scalable growth and operational excellence.
- Maintain a strong risk and control mindset; ensure best execution, adherence to regulatory requirements, and alignment with firm policies and procedures.
- Represent the Canadian franchise internally and externally; coordinate closely with regional and global equities teams to deliver the full capabilities of the platform.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- 10+ years of experience as a sales trader in equity markets, with deep expertise in Canadian equities and institutional client coverage.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality execution and idea-driven client engagement across high-touch channels.
- Established relationships with key Canadian institutional clients spanning trading desks and portfolio management teams.
- Strong risk management discipline; demonstrated ability to navigate market structure, liquidity, and execution quality metrics.
- Critical thinker with the ability to originate and drive trade concepts and thematic investment ideas that resonate with investor clients.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; effective collaborator across trading, research, syndicate, and support partners.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Relevant Canadian regulatory licensing (or ability to obtain promptly), as required for the role.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Experience launching or scaling a local market franchise within a global platform.
- Familiarity with adjacent equity products and execution channels (e.g., program trading, ETFs, options) and how they intersect with client workflows.
- Strong data-driven approach to client coverage, pipeline management, and post-trade analytics.
