The primary function of this position is to manage the daily operations of the Skilled Nursing Facility, & assist with the Assisted Living and Memory Care Units focusing on resident relations, services and policy/procedure development to assure resident satisfaction and quality of care and services. The Associate ED is responsible for assisting the VP/Executive Director in the overall operations of the community in accordance with the mission and strategic plan of LSMNJ and assuming responsibility in VP/Executive Director absence.
Essential Duties
1. Supports the mission and values of Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey, which is: Through the power of the Holy Spirit, and in response to God’s love as revealed in the Gospel, the mission of the Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey is to serve those in New Jersey who hurt, are in need, or have limited choices.
2. Sets direction, clarifies expectations and gains commitment of staff to departmental direction in line with corporate mission, vision, values and strategies
3. Develops implements and monitors strategic plan and associated policies, procedures to ensure achievement of business objectives of Health center/Independent Living
4. Collaborates and communicates with department directors of Crane’s Mill to ensure all residents are receiving the highest level of service.
5. Immediately reports concerns to the Compliance Officer; implements effective internal controls and provide reasonable assurances of the organization compliance with applicable laws and regulations
6. Manages the transitions from community/Independent living to ensure that each resident’s physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs are being met.
7. Recognizes customer concerns by taking prompt, active steps . Works at a resolution of a problem until customer is satisfied.
8. Ensures that Crane’s Mill policies and procedures are followed and enforced.
9. Functions as a team member of the LSMNJ management team promoting the advancement of the organization as a whole.
10. Takes action to control or minimize unnecessary error or risk, identifies alternatives and makes contingency plans.
11. Develop and maintain a collaborative working relationships to ensure appropriate communication between the entire continuums of care.
12. Collaborates with Maintenance on the Emergency Preparedness, Disaster and Fire plan of the community along with the VP/Executive Director.
13. Interviews, selects and evaluates departmental employees to ensure that a high quality of service/care is provided to the residents.
14. Serves as part of an assessment and review team to qualify prospective residents for the Health center.
15. Participates as part of a welcoming team to facilitate new resident orientation and adjustment to residence and community.
16. Evaluate current programs, policies and procedures and make recommendations for changes as needed.
17. Makes recommendations and takes action to ensure the long term financial viability of the facility.
18. Follows all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to the position
19. Provides reports as requested by the VP/Executive Director, .
20. Demonstrates the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to provide service to the resident. This requires the ability to obtain and interpret information, to identify age-specific needs and to provide services as needed.
21. Assumes responsibility for the overall operations of Crane’s Mill in the absence of the VP, Executive Director.
22. Participates and reports to committees as assigned, including the Quality Assurance and Risk Management Committees.
23. Other duties as assigned by my supervisor, necessary for the efficient operation of the department/facility.

Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Education/Training/Certifications: BS/BA required, health related or aging concentration preferred. LNHA required. Master’s Degree preferred.
Skill(s): Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized with ability to multi-task
Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience as an LNHA. Preferred experience in a CCRC environment.
